Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

Transparent Environmental Performance Data for Steel Products

At Norsk Stål, we are committed to providing transparent and reliable information about the environmental impact of our products throughout their entire life cycle. An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is an independently verified and registered document that provides standardised, transparent, and comparable data on a product’s environmental performance. EPDs are developed according to internationally recognised standards and enable informed decisions when selecting materials.

Our standard EPDs are based on average production data from our suppliers and provide a comprehensive overview of the environmental footprint associated with our steel products. As it is an average, the actual performance might vary depending on the source of the material.

Carbon Emissions and Global Warming Potential (GWP)

The emissions presented below are reported as Global Warming Potential (GWP) and measured in CO₂ equivalents (CO₂e) per tonne of steel within the life cycle stages A1–A3. CO₂ equivalents convert different greenhouse gas emissions into a common metric based on their impact on global warming. The reported values include emissions from:

A1: Finished material from producer
A2: Transportation of the goods to Norsk Stål's warehouses
A3: Stocking and production processes

Together, the stages A1-A3 represent the carbon footprint from resource extraction through to the finished product and transported to our warehouses ready for delivery from Norsk Stål. The A4 value represents the average emissions generated from transportation of the product to the customer by truck.

There are many options to source products with a lower emission. We have materials on stock collected under the brand Miljømetall which has a lower impact.
